More than just a church, St James’s Church on Bushey High Street is a living tapestry of history and community, and now it is reaching out to residents to help keep its bells ringing.
The historical church is part of an inclusive network and is open every day for people looking for some peace and space to be with God.
The church plays a vital role in the community – including at this year’s Bushey Festival where their summer fair was well attended.
St James’s has one of the largest churchyards in the southeast of England, and tours put on during the festival proved very interesting to residents.
The church also hosts various events, including a recent recital by the North London Military Wives Choir. Residents could also stock up on cakes, homemade jams, and bric-a-brac.
The roof and bell tower are currently undergoing repairs, and the church is hosting fundraising events and opportunities to help with the cost of the works.
