CLUB’S PLEA: Sports club in Chalfont St Peter ask dog owners to pick up their mess

A sports club in Chalfont St Peter has made a plea for dog owners to pick up their mess after an increase during the November lockdown.

Chalfont Park Sports Club posted their plea on their social media channels along with a picture of the bags of dog mess they had picked up that day alone.

The sports club, which is home to Chalfont St Peter Cricket Club, say they welcome dog walkers but want people to take responsibility in keeping it a beautiful area.

They said: “A big thank you to all the dog owners that, having had the opportunity to walk around our beautiful Chalfont Park, decided to leave a donation on their way out.

“Over the lock down period, I have also retrieved such bags from our food/recycling bins, plant pots and, would you believe, our cigarette bin that had fallen open. Clearly the responsibility for owning a dog ends at picking up the mess.

“I have no way of disposing of dog waste. Our main bins are only emptied every fortnight and not all all at the moment.

“I am also serving food and drink and children play here. Please take it home and dispose of it properly.

“I do have CCTV, but I have much better things to do and I hope people will be sensible from now on.

“Chalfont Park is a beautiful area for everyone to enjoy; please let’s keep it that way.”
