CLUB SUCCESS: Awards ceremony goes ahead virtually for Rickmansworth Cricket Club

Published on: 16th November 2020   |   By: Geraint Roberts   |   Category: Uncategorized

Due to the lockdown restrictions, Rickmansworth Cricket Club were unable to hold their annual awards ceremony at a local venue in person and instead were forced to hold the event online where more than 50 members joined in to celebrate the achievements of the previous season.

The captain of the 1st XI gave the awards to Taz Shehabi for batting and the bowling to Faizan Ahmed. Wicket keeper Farhan Hussain won the most valuable contribution award in his first season with the club.

The 2nd team awards went to 17-year-old Harvey Blackwell for batting, whilst the bowling was won by Ali Asghar Shah.

The outstanding performance award went to Usman Rai who took three wickets for no runs to enable Ricky to beat local rivals Abbots Langley by just one run, back in August.

The 3rd team awards were also a testament to the younger players coming through the club as the winners were 14 year old Yusuf Khan (batting) and 16-year-old Callum Watson-Humphreys (bowling). Team man of the year was Yusuf Waqar.

Finally, the 4th team awards went to Neil Raithatha for batting; Joe Monk for bowling and 65-year-old Neil Burdett for outstanding contribution as wicket keeper.

With sport currently suffering badly from these periods of lockdown, it is hoped that things could return to normal before next spring.

The club expect to start indoor nets at a local venue in the New Year and anyone who would like a go at winning an award next year is invited to apply via the club website rickmansworthcc.co.uk
