The husband and wife duo of Pinner councillors Chris and Janet Mote have been forced to shield away from the public during lockdown due to Chris’s health condition, but that hasn’t stopped them from doing their bit to help the community.
They decided to set up a stall outside their house due to none of the charity shops being open during lockdown, and started offering goods completely free, suggesting that if they would like to make a donation, to do so for Harrow Food Bank.
Initially, Janet and Chris wanted to support Sir Tom Moore’s cause, but later decided to change to show their support to the local food bank.
With the couple both being councillors for Harrow Council, they have continued to take part in meetings via Zoom.
Speaking to PinnerNews, cllr Janet said: “People have been remarkably generous, it has been completely up to them if they wanted to donate but so many have. It has been our way of helping the community where we can.
“It has kept us occupied too, we are living in very strange and surreal times at the moment. We have had to shield indoors since March, and we miss hugging our grandchildren, but we are most definitely looking forward to August so that we can start going out and about again.”
