After months of anticipation, Cineworld Watford has officially completed its full recliner transformation — becoming the first cinema in the company’s estate to feature luxury seating across all standard auditoriums. The overhaul introduces custom-built recliners paired with Barco Laser projection, ensuring sharper visuals and supreme comfort in every seat.
The new chairs, described by Cineworld as “the best seats on the planet,” are the result of a worldwide search and years of testing. Engineers evaluated 182 recliners from 49 suppliers across 22 countries before creating a design that achieves a “zero-gravity” sensation — an ergonomic S-curve that supports the spine, reduces pressure points and improves circulation. It’s comfort engineered to make moviegoers feel as though they’re floating through space.
The upgrade complements Watford’s existing IMAX with Laser and ScreenX formats, meaning all nine screens now deliver state-of-the-art presentation. The only exception is the 477-seat IMAX auditorium, which retains its signature layout due to brand specifications.
Attending on behalf of WatfordNews, Rosell Legare, described the transformation as “a cinematic experience that truly puts comfort on par with spectacle — a game-changer for local film fans.”
With its sleek design, sustainable materials and unmatched comfort, Cineworld Watford sets a new benchmark for modern cinema — proving that when technology meets thoughtful design, you don’t just watch a film… you feel it.
