Chorleywood care chef is the best in the region

Head chef of Chorleywood Beaumont Nursing Home, Callum Stoneham has been crowned the winner of the Best Care Chef for the London region.

The award was presented to the 29-year-old at the Great British Care Awards 2018 and he has now made it through to the national finals in March.

Callum was praised for going above and beyond to ensure that all 55 residents at the care home have the care and quality they deserve.

One example of Callum’s passion for his job is how he arranged and hosted a ‘Chorleywood Beaumont Wedding’ for one of the residents.

He organised and arranged a wedding at the care home when he heard that a resident was upset that she couldn’t attend her grandsons wedding.

As a result, he got in touch with the family and brought the wedding to the care home so that she could have a wedding meal with her family. The day was enjoyed by all and was also very moving.

Speaking to ChorleywoodNews, Callum said: “It’s good to have an achievement like that. I am really happy with the award. It’s good to work here, you get a lot of appreciation.

“I think every chef, in every home should go the extra mile for the residents which is what I do every day.”

Divisional director, Natasha Lazovic, added: “The division and region are immensely proud of Callum’s achievement in being awarded the Best Care Chef. We wish him the very best at the Nationals in 2019.”
