CHILFEST TUNES: Music festival will take over Tring Radio next month

Published on: 19th June 2020   |   By: Jake Levison   |   Category: Uncategorized

Organisers of music festival, Chilfest, are taking over Tring Radio in a ‘Lockdown Festival’ on the day the event was meant to have taken place this year (Saturday, July 4).

Festival fans can tune into Tring Radio from 5pm until 10pm on the day to relive their favourite Chilfest memories, hear interviews with the stars of the show, listen to tunes from all the featured artists and take part in competitions to win Chilfest 2021 tickets and exclusive limited edition ‘Chilfest Gin’.

Artists Tony Hadley, Gary Christian, The Real Thing, Leee John and presenters Pat Sharp and Mike Naylor have already confirmed that they will be involved in the Chilfest Lockdown Festival show.

The radio show will also use airtime to promote the great work of local charities, Herts Young Homeless and Rennie Grove Hospice Care. Funds will be raised by text/online donations.

The target is to raise £10,000 for these good causes, who have been hugely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Both charities are in urgent need of funds and support, particularly during this time whilst they continue their great work under exceptional circumstances.

Steve Butcher, Chilfest director, is pleased to be arranging this radio takeover.

He said: “I’m looking forward to filling our fans’ homes with their favourite Chilfest tunes and we are really grateful to have had fantastic reactions from our artistes, who are taking interviews and supporting us.

“The five-hour show is going to be a great party and fun for all the family. I’m also very excited to try and raise much-needed funds for Herts Young Homeless and Rennie Grove. These charities do amazing stuff and we must help wherever we can.”

Chilfest 2020 was recently cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This was a difficult decision for organisers, but even rescheduled dates were going to leave the event unviable.

Once lockdown commenced across the UK, the Chilfest team purchased eight 3D printers and manufactured and donated over 500 face visors to local care homes and charities.

Then work got underway with arranging the 2021 Chilfest event.

Chilfest 2021 has been set for Friday, July 9 and Saturday, July 10 and the artists have already been secured.
