CHANGING HANDS: New operator takes over Chalfonts bus route following complaints over delays

Published on: 14th May 2023   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

A new operator has taken over a bus route frequently used by children travelling to a secondary school in Little Chalfont.

As of April 16, former operators Red Rose announced they were transferring the 180 from Little Kingshill over to local competitors Carousel Buses following an amicable agreement.

This comes after criticism about delays from users and parents of children using the service to get to Dr Challoner’s High School.

Speaking to CHALFONTS&GERRARDSCROSSnews, Taj Khan, managing director for Red Rose, said: “Once we do the first pick-up, delays on the rest of the route are beyond our control.

“The roadworks caused by HS2 got to such a state that it was causing phenomenal delays. We made sure we ran the service to the best of our ability.”

Luke Marion, managing director of Carousel, said: “We’re pleased to be in a position to be able to take on the 180 and continue to provide this service.

“We believe we can make the route financially viable and would encourage people to back the service and help us ensure it remains for years to come.”

All bus services should be better advertised.
There are many people who are not aware that there is s bus service to where they want to go.
Now we are fortunate we have a relatively good coverage of buses in Buckinghamshire.
For years the bus service was not adequate and people are now not aware that buses are around.
I think that if every household know about the various bus services, buses would be crowded.
Perhaps, Council when they send out letters to households they could include an information sheet of buses.
