CHANGES MADE: Revised waste collections over the festive season in Watford

Published on: 10th December 2020   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Watford Borough Council and its recycling and waste partner Veolia, are reminding residents that their waste and recycling will be collected on different days over Christmas and New Year.

Residents will be sent a flyer over the coming weeks with the revised collection dates and are asked to check the calendar before putting out any bins for collection.

Due to dates of festive bank holidays, collections will happen one or two days earlier than normal the week before Christmas, dates can be found here watford.gov.uk/christmasrecycling

Households should check their collection dates on the leaflet or online at watford.gov.uk/mybinday and ensure their bins are out on the edge of their front property boundary by 6am on the day of collection.

For the first two collections after Christmas, residents can put out up to two extra bags of non-recyclable waste. If residents have more than this, visit watford.gov.uk/excesswaste for more information.

Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “We are all looking forward to the festive season, particularly this year. But I would like to remind residents to check their collection calendar to make sure they are putting out their waste and recycling on the right days.

“This is also an opportunity for us all to recycle more, which may not be at the forefront of everybody’s mind, but I would encourage residents to continue recycling their waste.

“We are committed to making Watford a cleaner, greener and a more sustainable town and this can only happen if everyone plays their part.”

If any bins have been missed, residents must report this within 24 hours of their collection online at watford.gov.uk/missedbin
