A history enthusiast has recreated the Second Battle of St Albans using model figures.
A historical wargamer and model builder took to social media site X to share his recreation of the Second Battle of St Albans, a key moment in the Wars of the Roses.
Known at the time as the Civil Wars, the Wars of the Roses were fought between supporters of the House of Lancaster and the House of York for control of the English throne during the 15th century. The conflict was resolved with the victory of Henry Tudor, and the warring houses were reconciled.
The creator of the recreation, Winston Ab Rees, wrote: “A fun Sunday recreating St Albans II Wars of the Roses using the excellent Midgard rules… Lancastrians won in a topsy turvy thriller which hinged on a key central combat.”
In the real battle in 1461, the Lancastrian army outflanked the Yorkist faction, cutting them off from the road to London. Their victory saw King Henry VI freed from captivity, however the Lancastrians failed to take advantage of the victory.
