Data from the 2021 Census has revealed facts and figures surrounding the population of Chorleywood.
A total of 50.2 per cent of people in the village identified as Christian, while 35.2 per cent said they were not religious and 3.1 per cent said they were Hindu.
This bucks the trend for the rest of England and Wales, which for the first time saw fewer than half of the population identify as Christian.
The majority of people in the village – 60.1 per cent – are married, while 26.6 per cent have never been married, 6.2 per cent are divorced and 6.1 per cent are widowed.
In terms of ethnicity, Chorleywood has a majority white population of 86.8 per cent, with 7.2 per cent identifying as Asian, 4.1 per cent as mixed and 0.8 per cent as black. A total of 86 per cent of people also stated they were born in the UK, compared to 14 per cent who were born elsewhere.
Data also showed there are more women than men living in the village. The age group with the largest population is those aged under 14.
Further data, including information about people’s jobs, housing, education, gender identity, sexuality, and health are set to be released sporadically up to mid-January.
