Two Merchant Taylors’ Prep School (MTPS) students recently helped their cricket club secure a prestigious tournament win.

On Sunday, March 30, the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground played host to an exciting morning of cricket as the U10 Junior Middlesex Association Indoor Finals got underway.

After weeks of competition featuring 21 teams, it was Stanmore Cricket Club (SCC) who entered the finals in top form, with four wins from four matches. Their momentum continued through the semi-finals, where they secured two more wins to earn their place in the final.

The team, made up of eight local schoolchildren – including two players from MTPS – put up a net score of 73, losing four wickets in the process.

Their bowling effort was equally strong. SCC managed to restrict Hampstead to 57 runs, taking eight wickets along the way.

SCC were crowned U10 Junior Middlesex Association Indoor Champions for the 2024/25 season, with one of the MTPS students also winning the Most Valuable Player plaque.

A spokesperson for MTPS shared on their Facebook page: “It’s fantastic to see them doing so well at a sport they love!”
