Pinner Rotary members recently participated in the Lady Mayor’s Show in the City of London as part of the Rotary in London float.

The show was held on Saturday, November 8, to celebrate the new Lady Mayor Dame Susan Langley and was covered live on BBC One. The Lady Mayor, who is the third woman to be appointed Lord Mayor of the City of London, will act as a spokesperson for the city during her year in office.

Led by Pinner Rotarian and Rotary in London District Governor Adrian Faiers, the float was purple to mark Rotary International’s global commitment to the eradication of polio. The purple represents the colour of the polio vaccination given to children. The float also featured a 1920s traction steam engine.

Pinner Rotary vice president John Whitehead said: “It was a privilege to be a part of the show and witness the large crowds enjoying themselves on a beautiful day.”

Pinner Rotary has grown significantly in the last few years and is now one of the largest Rotary groups in London with 40 members.
