A Chalfont St Peter resident took to social media to warn fellow residents about the ‘Crash for Cash’ scam, after becoming victim of one.
The woman and her boyfriend were involved in a serious car accident last month on the slip road of the A40 at Denham, heading towards London.
She wrote about the accident on Facebook and said: “A silver Mercedes was travelling slowly in the left hand lane, I changed to the right hand lane and as I did the vehicle travelled into the path of my car and slammed their foot on their brakes.
“There were no cars in front and nothing approaching from the right.
“Sadly I now know that this is the ”crash for cash” scam. Usually the criminals target lone women or the elderly and often ask to settle the accident at the side of the road through cash.
“Fortunately my boyfriend (who is 6ft 5) much to their shock was with me at the time. The Mercedes bumper appeared to have been reinforced so as to not inflict any damage on their car. My car sadly is a write off and I have no dash cam, lesson learnt!
“I just wanted to make people aware as I’d hate for anyone to be a victim of what I am currently going through.”
