A Spanish tapas kitchen in Amersham has been named as the best restaurant in Buckinghamshire and Oxon.
Pluma on the High Street was awarded the title in the Muddy Stilettos Awards for 2022, which feature the best local businesses across the country as voted for by residents.
The family-run restaurant was founded in July 2020 by husband-and-wife duo, Charlie Baxter and Arantxa Fuentes.
Charlie said: “We felt incredible after winning the award. For our staff, it was a massive boost, especially around the busiest time of year when they are all working so hard. It really is an acknowledgement of all the sacrifice the team has put in.
“We did not expect to win this prestigious award. Just to be in the running was our biggest achievement yet. We truly are grateful to all who voted for Pluma and honoured to be a part of the Muddy family.”
Arantxa grew up in a small village in central Spain. Her family grew their own fruit and vegetables for their traditional home cooking, which inspired her to always use fresh and seasonal products in the kitchen.
Creating Pluma fulfilled her “lifelong dream” of opening a Spanish restaurant, in which she “brings her childhood memories to her new home in Amersham”.
Brendan O’Sullivan, an independent hair salon in Amersham, was also voted as a regional winner in the Muddy Stilettos Awards.
