The 2023 Herts Open Studios recently celebrated its 10th anniversary, with hundreds of artists from across Hertfordshire showcasing their talents.

Trestle Arts Base in St Albans was thrilled to be involved in the event and exhibited work by Maxine Ellis from September 9 to October 1. Maxine is a local artist who has used her art as a form of therapy for her chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS).

Maxine was diagnosed with ME/CFS in 2009. After attending wellbeing sessions run by artist Vijay Panchal, her love for art grew and she went on to found the Hertfordshire ME/CFS Support Group.

Elaine Johnson, Trestle Gallery programmer, said: “Trestle is delighted to have been a host venue for Herts Open Studios for the 10th year in a row. The calibre and diversity of the arts community in Hertfordshire never ceases to amaze us.

“Maxine Ellis’s exhibition, with its vibrant use of mixed media and poignant messaging about raising awareness and funds for the Hertfordshire ME/CFS Support Group, has touched the hearts of many.”
