People who worked for Tornado Cars in Uxbridge Road, Mill End during the 1950s and 60s are being invited to a special event later this year to mark the 60th anniversary of the launch of the first Tornado sports cars in Croxley Green.
At the time, Rickmansworth had its very own car factory, making sports cars that today are rare and collectable.
The Tornado registrar is David Malins and he explained that 2018 is the 60th anniversary of the first Tornado sports cars press launch which was held at Old Merchant Taylors School, Croxley Green.
To commemorate the passing of 60 years the register is planning a get together at the Coach & Horses on Croxley Green. The day ‘pencilled in’ is Wednesday June 20.
David said: “As well as past employees we would like to meet up with the families of those who have since passed away. Of course, we are also keen to chat with anyone who owned an example of our cars when they were shiny and new.”
The event is open to club members and to invited guests so if you were at Tornado’s in those days or knew someone who was please contact David by email; TornadoRegistrar@aol.com.
