Detectives investigating an incident in Watford are appealing for witnesses and information after a woman was threatened and assaulted. A woman aged in her 30s was walking along Field Road at around 1.45am on Thursday, July 21, when she was approached by four men who threatened and then assaulted her. She sustained minor injuries to her eye and her handbag was also stolen. The suspects are described as black and aged between 18 and 25. Temporary Detective Constable Puneet Netar, who is investigating, said: “I understand this incident may cause some concern in the local community and I would like to reassure people that we are doing all we can to investigate what happened and trace those involved, who are not thought to be from the local area. “This incident is unusual for Watford and we believe it to be isolated at this stage. Patrols have been increased in the area by way of reassurance and we would urge people to take simple steps to help keep themselves safe while out and about, such as sticking to busy areas and keeping all valuables out of sight.” T/DC Netar continued: “I am also appealing for anyone who has information about the incident to please contact police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference C1/16/3315.” Alternatively, you can contact the independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through their Anonymous Online Form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information cannot be traced or recorded and you will never need to go to court.
