A five-year-old boy from Hemel Hempstead was inspired by the work of Colonel Tom Moore recently and wanted to do something similar to raise money for the NHS.
George Quigley is a student at St Roses Primary School and has been doing laps of his garden and has raised a brilliant £1,236 by doing so.
His mother, Lisa, spoke of how proud the family are of him: “We’re all so proud of George for wanting to do something to help during these times. All together its about 17.5 miles that he is doing.
“He saw Captain Tom on the TV and said he wanted to do something similar. He definitely knows what’s going on at the moment and understands how hard the doctors and nurses are working for us at the NHS.
“He’s missing his school and doesn’t understand things like why he can’t go to the shops or touch other people, but he seems to be coping quite well all in all.”
The fundraiser has been set up by Lisa on her Facebook page, which can be found here if you would like to donate to George’s cause facebook.com/donate/650233629092379/
