A man accused of murdering his mother in Potters Bar today (Thursday, January 20) admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
Charles Dearden, 31, had pleaded not guilty to murdering Kim Dearden, aged 63, in Oakfield Close (home pictured above) on Sunday, June 20 last year.
He appeared at St Albans Crown Court on a video link from the mental health unit at Chase Farm Hospital in Enfield.
Prosecutor Simon Wilshire said the plea was acceptable to the crown.
Judge Michael Kay QC fixed the sentence date for March 4 this year.
At a previous hearing, the judge said it was a “very sad case” and that the crown’s decision was entirely appropriate.
