2017 – The Year of Learning, Laughter and Bucket Lists!

Published on: 4th January 2017   |   By: Nik Allen

I’m writing this while battling the terrible disease which is often cruelly, casually and insensitively dismissed as ‘man flu.’

Yes I am a man. And I have the flu. And yes I do feel sorry for myself as most males do when laid low by the illness.

However my Christmas was really enjoyable and my ‘energetic’ New Year’s celebrations might have played a part in me being hit with the man flu mallet. But it was a great laugh at the time.

I always feel there are plenty of reasons to be cheerful and hopeful at this time of year.

2017 is a blank canvas. I know that’s a cliché but it’s true.

It’s up to us what we make of it. I can’t see it being as dramatic and momentous as 2016 but we all have the chance to make the next 12 months memorable and enjoyable.

A lot of people who defiantly say ‘I’m not resolving to do anything and won’t be setting goals this year’ are often among those that I instinctively shy away from.

A friend of mine said he never makes resolutions at this time of year because he’s happy. And more power to him if that’s how he feels.

As the old saying goes ‘do more of what makes you happiest’ and that’s something I think we could all be mindful of this year.

I’ll be working on ticking off things from my bucket list – which with the way I currently feel is something I should get on with quickly.

I’ll also be attending plenty of courses as I’m keen to improve myself and my knowledge.

Later this year on various occasions I’ll be learning from the likes of Sir Clive Woodward, Reggae Reggae sauce entrepreneur Levi Roots, Karen Brady and Gerald Ratner.

As a company we will be working hard on bringing people as much local news, views, people and events as possible.

My personal focus is on enjoying life as much as possible and having loads of fun and laughter with family and friends.

My business focus is to continue to learn how to improve what we do and the way we do it and to meet interesting people along the way.

Wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2017.

Now where did I put the Lemsip??

Thanks for reading.

Nik.
