Hard fought win for Hemel

Published on: 13th August 2019   |   By: Tim Green   |   Category: Hemel Hempstead Town F.C

Hemel Hempstead Town built on their positive start to the season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Dulwich Hamlet at Vauxhall Road.

After losing their first away game against Dorking Wanderers, the Tudors beat Hampton and Richmond 2-1 away at the weekend and built upon that victory with another three points this evening.

It was no surprise when the home side took the lead after 17 minutes. After Liam Nash played a sumptuous pass with his back to goal, Sam Ashford finished with aplomb.

But it was the visitors then grew back into the game and Sam Beasant parried a long range shot that was cleared away before another shot came in that flashed just wide.

The visitors bossed the game in the second half and Hemel were lucky not to concede the equaliser as the game drew to a close when a Dulwich forward found himself unmarked in the box.

In the end, Sammy Moore’s men showed admirable graft and determination to secure the three points. The Tudors face a local derby against Wealdstone at home on Saturday.
