Santander’s Northwood branch is one of the 140 branches that are closing across the country.
News in January revealed that Santander are set to close 140 branches across the UK placing 1,270 jobs at risk.
In addition to the Northwood branch, two other Middlesex branches are also set to close.
The three Middlesex banks that are going to close are:
- Northwood branch – 42/44 Green Lane, Northwood, Middlesex, HA6 2QB – set to close May 16, 2019
- Eastcote – 137 Field End Lane, Eastcote, Middlesex, HA5 1QN – set to close 25 April, 2019
- Rayners Lane – 412/414 Rayners Lane, Harrow, Middlesex, HA5 5HA – set to close July 4, 2019
A Santander customer says that it’s really unfortunate that they are closing branches as Santander give customer service like no other banks.
She said: “Everyone is looking for customer services these days. If they don’t they will change banks. I don’t know any bank that give customer service like Santander. It is a real shame.
Another Santander banker who didn’t want to be named labelled it a disgrace.
He said: “I think it is disgraceful, it will affect people immensely, it affects people’s choice and people lives massively. It is disgusting that they are shutting so many branches.”
Susan Allen, Head of Retail and Business Banking, said: “The way our customers are choosing to bank with us has changed dramatically in recent years, with more and more customers using online and mobile channels.
“As a result, we have had to take some very difficult decisions over out less visited branches, and those where we have other branches in close proximity.”
