Brighton 0-0 Watford

Published on: 2nd February 2019   |   By: Jake Levison   |   Category: Watford FC

A bit of history to start the game with it being Javi Gracia’s 39th Premier League game in charge of the Hornets, which is the most that any manager has been in charge at the club.

The first 15 minutes of the game were very cagey for both teams as they were trying to work each other out.

The first shot of the game came on 17 minutes when Troy Denney failed to direct his header on target from Janmaat’s cross.

The halfway-point of the first half saw neither side have a shot on target with Watford having 43 per cent possession.

The first decent chance of the game went to Brighton with Lewis Dunk rising well with his header going just wide.

Sloppy and slow start to the second half for the Hornets with Brighton creating frequent chances.

First chance of the half for Watford came in the 58th minute with Will Hughes poking a ball through to Ken Sema with his volley failing to hit the target – a let off for the home side.

Brighton with the majority of chances in the second half with Watford defending well when they had too.

A great save from Foster saw him deny Locadia’s header, a corner for Brighton ended in the arms of Foster.

Solid piece of defending saw Andre Gray not convert his chance.

The game ended in a draw with a mix of good defending from the Hornets and Brighton not being clinical enough in front of goal.

Gracia will take the point considering the way his team played today.
