School set for much needed revamp

Published on: 24th April 2018   |   By: Dean Shaw   |   Category: Uncategorized

A secondary school in Hatch End is getting a revamp with a new teaching facility and sports pitch.

Hatch End High School will have its current single storey teaching blocks demolished as part of the project to make way for the field with an additional building providing 23 classrooms, including specialist ICT rooms, plus a showcase state of the art library.

It will replace part of the main block at the back of the school site, which has reached the end of its functional life.

The school is working hard with government officials and Kier, the successful contractor, on developing the detailed plans for the new block.

On their website the school details plans for the upgrade and how the work will take place while the school remains open. It says: “We are pleased that the proposed location of the new building is now to the front of the school, which not only results in a more coherent and compact site but means the construction phase will be separate from the operation of the school.

“The demolition of the old block frees up acres of open space at the back of the school to extend and enhance our outdoor sports facilities, including a new football pitch.”
