Croxley Guild of Sport called a meeting yesterday with councillors to propose future plans for the development of the club. The volunteer run sports and social club is currently home to five sports, Chess Valley rugby club, AFC football team, tennis, bowls and cricket and is in need of improvement. At the meeting treasurer Maureen Wells outlined plans for future redevelopment. Maureen said: “It is important for us to strike on the back of the Olympic sports legacy, we want to get more people involved in sports but in order to do so we need better facilities.” The redevelopment ideas include an artificial all weather pitch for multi-use, new changing rooms and better disable access to ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate. “The general premises needs improving too, the driveway, patio and toilets to name a few,” she said. In order to apply for funding to improve the facilities, the club needs to extend the lease from 14 years to a minimum of 21. Future lease plans are currently being discussed between the Guild and councillors. Read more in April’s My Croxley News
