WATFORD defender Lloyd Doyley has signed a new contract that will keep him at Vicarage Road for the 2014/15 season. The 31-year-old has put pen to paper on a new one-year deal, having appeared 23 times for the Hornets so far this campaign. A product of the club’s Academy, Doyley has played 432 times since making his Watford debut in 2001, and recently moved joint sixth in the Hornets’ all-time appearance list. Those appearances have produced two memorable goals – a diving header against Queens Park Rangers in December 2009 and a cross-shot during last season’s trip to Bolton. The long-serving defender has performed under no fewer than eight bosses during his time at Watford – Gianluca Vialli, Ray Lewington, Aidy Boothroyd, Brendan Rodgers, Malky Mackay, Sean Dyche, Gianfranco Zola and Beppe Sannino. Meanwhile Albert Riera has joined the Hornets on a short-term contract until the end of the season. The left-sided player, who can operate in both defence and midfield, has a wealth of experience having played in a number of top Leagues around Europe, including the Premier League. This transfer is subject to the Hornets receiving international clearance for the player.
