Last month’s Radlett News shared the story of a local couple who were left shocked after a parking company crashed their Jaguar.
Tracey and Jeremy left their car with the Luton Airport Priority Parking Service, run by APCOA Parking, while they flew to Spain. When they returned, they found their car had been crashed into a ditch.
In the month since, Tracey and Jeremy have faced several further difficulties.
They say insurers for APCOA have paid Jaguar £29,000 for the second-hand value of the car. However, at the time of the crash, the pair still owed a further £14,000 on finance.
APCOA reportedly promised Tracey and Jeremy that they would fund a rental car until they could find a replacement, but have allegedly gone back on their word. The couple are currently renting a car at their own expense.
The couple said: “We are now £20,000 out of pocket and APCOA has not spent a penny. They are a multi-million-pound company, and £20,000 is nothing to them.
“The outstanding finance, which we are still paying every month, is the responsibility of APCOA and London Luton Airport. We are disgusted at the behaviour of APCOA and London Luton Airport and we will not be giving up or backing down until we have been given what they owe us.”
Tracey and Jeremy claim that, contrary to APCOA’s comments, they have yet to receive an apology and APCOA “certainly have not been in constant communication with us”.
A spokesperson for London Luton Airport said: “Incidents such as this are extremely rare. We take our responsibilities with passengers’ vehicles seriously and we are continuing to work closely with the Meet and Greet service provider to resolve this matter as quickly as possible.”
APCOA declined to comment further.
