Abbots Langley Parish Council (ALPC) and the Back to the Front Project have worked together to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.

Local groups have created a diverse programme, hosting more than 40 events at 15 venues, from historical exhibitions and walks, to coffee mornings and afternoon tea, plays and singalongs.

Children are also invited to take part in the V80 Schools competition. To enter, children can either draw an A4 picture or write 100 words about a family member during the war.

Students from Abbots Langley, Breakspeare, Tanners Wood, Divine Saviour, and St Paul’s schools are invited to participate before the deadline on Wednesday, April 30.

Key events taking place later in the year include the ALPC VE Day Beacon Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, May 8, and the V80 Picnic in the Park on Saturday, July 12. All residents are invited to attend with further information to follow.
