Published on: 28th August 2022   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Taster sessions and mini health checks are among the activities on offer at a community health fair in Potters Bar next week.

Anyone wanting to learn more about how to improve their health and feel good can attend the Health and Wellbeing Event, organised by the Potters Bar Patient Participation Groups of three Potters Bar surgeries, in conjunction with Hertsmere Borough Council, on Friday September 2 at the Wyllyotts Theatre in Potters Bar.

The event will feature a market place with over 25 stalls offering wellbeing information services and advice from organisations supporting the Potters Bar community, such as Communities 1st, InspireAll and Neighbourhood Watch. There will also be health talks by GP’s from the three local surgeries Highview, Parkfield and Annandale as well as mini health checks carried out by the surgery’s Health Care Assistants. Taster sessions will also be on offer, such as dance fit by Saracens, and chair-based exercises and falls prevention by InspireAll.

The fair will be opened by the Mayor of Hertsmere, councillor John Graham at 10am and will run until 3pm. Booking not needed, just drop in. Everyone is welcome.

Councillor Meenal Sachdev, Portfolio Holder for Community Leisure, Health and Wellbeing, said: “Your health should always be your priority and this event is a great first step towards understanding how you can enjoy a healthier lifestyle.

“Whether you’re actively looking to improve your health, are interested in a specific issue, or just want to find out about services available to you, this event is perfect.

“The free mini health checks are also a great opportunity to identify any issues and take away some advice.”

Cllr John Graham, Mayor of Hertsmere, said: “I thoroughly look forward to opening this year’s community health fair and hope to see lots of people there.

“The range of health-related topics being covered throughout the day is brilliant and I look forward to learning so much.”
