‘YOUR CHANCE’: Residents invited to help shape the future of Borehamwood, Bushey, Potters Bar and Radlett

Published on: 9th March 2026   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Featured

Residents, businesses and visitors are being invited to share their views on the future of Borehamwood, Bushey, Potters Bar and Radlett as Hertsmere Borough Council launches Hertsmere Visions – a new public consultation running from 6 to 31 March 2026.

The Hertsmere Visions consultation will help create ‘Place Visions’ for each of the borough’s four main settlements, setting out how they could evolve in the years ahead. The Council would like local people’s views on what makes each place special, what’s working well and what could be improved.

The Visions will:
• Feed into the revised emerging Local Plan.
• Reflect local priorities and aspirations.
• Add place specific guidance on the quality, character and location of future development.
• Support improvements to infrastructure, public spaces, and active travel.

Councillor Nik Oakley, Portfolio Holder for Planning, Infrastructure and Transport said: “Place Visions are about more than planning policy – they’re about what makes each of our settlements feel like home. We’ve already been listening to communities across Hertsmere, and now we want to hear from as many residents as possible.

“Whether you love your local high street, want better cycling routes, or have ideas about where new homes should go, this is your chance to help shape what your town looks like for future generations. I’d encourage everyone to get involved.”

How to get involved:
Residents and those who work or visit the four settlements are invited to share their views through a series of exhibition events across the borough and through a short online survey. The survey takes around five minutes to complete and will run from 6 to 31 March 2026.

Public Exhibition Dates:
• Bushey – MPAA/Bushey Country Club 16th March, 14.00-20.00.
• Borehamwood – Civic Centre 17th March, 14.00-20.00.
• Radlett Institute, 25th March 14.00-20.00.
• Potters Bar Cricket Club, 26th March 14.00-20.00.

The Team:
Hertsmere Borough Council is working with leading urban design specialists AR Urbanism and Something Collective. The team has been having early conversations with key community groups across the four towns and undertaking baseline research to understand each place.

Something Collective will be facilitating the public exhibitions and designers from AR Urbanism will be on hand to answer any questions you might have and to listen to your ideas for the vision.
