Residents enjoyed a special screening of the film The Marching Band earlier this month, as part of a joint event run by Chorleywood Film Club and Chorleywood French Twinning Association.
The screening, held on Friday January 16 at Chorleywood War Memorial Hall, showed the film The Marching Band (En Fanfare), with English subtitles. The event was well attended with guests enjoying the film and musical numbers alongside French wines and cheeses.
The Marching Band (En Fanfare) premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024. It tells the story of two long lost brothers, one an acclaimed classical orchestral conductor and the other a trombonist in a local brass band. They reunited, and despite all their differences, form a special bond through their shared love of music.
The popular event brought together film lovers and the local French twinning community. The Chorleywood Film Club screenings are well attended, often bringing 100 or more people to the screenings, and more collaborations are planned for the future.
The next screening will take place on Friday February 20, showing the 2024 crime and thriller Santosh.
