Following a successful application for a grant from the WBC small grants fund, Watford Cricket Club has recently taken delivery of a defibrillator.
It was officially handed over to Andrew Canning, the secretary of WCC by Deputy Mayor and Mayoral candidate Peter Taylor on 17th February 2018.
After the formal presentation, eight members of Watford Cricket Club were provided with training on how to use the defibrillator by a representative from St. John Ambulance. The cost of the training was included in the grant.
Andrew said ‘Watford Cricket Club is very grateful to Watford Borough Council for providing the funds for us to buy our new defibrillator and the vital training which goes with it. This is a very necessary addition to the equipment which is used to support all those who play cricket at Woodside’.
Woodside Councillor Stephen Cavinder said ‘Watford Cricket Club plays an important part in the wide range of sports activities which are provided at Woodside Playing Fields and so I’m delighted that they were successful with their application for funds to buy this equipment.
It’s important that our sports clubs have modern equipment to support sporting activities and the addition of a defibrillator at Woodside will be well received’.
