Children from Abbots Langley played their part as the Watford District swimming squad took home a haul of medals at the county schools’ gala last month.
Anna Thomas, who goes to St Paul’s Langleybury School was part of the Watford Year 5 girls who fought off stiff competition to win the overall trophy for year 5 girls.
Gold medals were won by Raffy May, an Abbot’s Langley School pupil, for the Year 5 boys backstroke while Sebastian Lythaby, a St Paul’s School pupil and Raffy May were part of the silver medal winning year 5 boys medley relay team.
Despite the successful evening, Watford team narrowly missed out on the top prize ending the evening in second place overall.
Raffy, who swims for Watford Swimming Club, now has his sights firmly set on reaching the Hertfordshire County Championships next year while Sebastian says his overall dream is to swim for his country in the Olympics.
