Gone are the days of smoke, soot and silence as Frogmore Paper Mill in Apsley roars back to life.
The historic mill suffered severe damage in a catastrophic fire in January 2022.
Now, after three years of careful restoration, the mill will open its doors for guided tours starting on Wednesday, October 15, with sessions taking place at 11am and 2pm every Wednesday and Thursday.
Visitors will walk through a living testament to Britain’s paper-making heritage, where every beam, pulley and dial tells a story.
The team is “delighted” to invite people back to see what they have been up to, with ‘hard hat’ tours allowing the Apsley Paper Trail to share the restoration safely.
A new highlight is the stunning roof that tops the Machine House of Fourdrinier No.2, originally built in 1906.
Visitors will also encounter traces of a 1942 fire and the story of Bill Searle, who revived the mill in just four months during wartime scarcity.
Tour booking will soon be available online at www.frogmorepapermill.org.uk
