‘TAKE ACTION’: Abbots Langley councillor raises concerns regarding flooding in car park

Published on: 22nd February 2026   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Uncategorized

A simple road fix has caused frustration for residents, after highway works failed to tackle an ongoing flooding problem.

Concerns centre on blocked drains in Causeway car park first flagged in January 2025. Despite Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) carrying out work in late 2025, only the damaged entrance road surface was repaired.

Residents say the problem continues to cause pooling water and safety worries during bad weather. The matter has now been raised again with both councils, with calls for a permanent solution after a year of little progress.

Abbots Langley councillor Ian Campbell shared on Facebook that he revisited the issue in November: “I requested that both county and district councils take action to ensure this is fixed once and for all.”

Hertfordshire County Council responded: “The drain was found to be blocked and marked to be cleared by digging out. This type of work is carried out within 12 months of being identified unless we can combine the work with another scheme covering the area.”
