A young swimmer from St Albans has smashed her personal and season-best times, at the World Deaf Swimming Championships, in Buenos Aires.
After fundraising over £1,000 to attend the championships, Lucy Jordan-Caws, who studied at St Albans Girl’s School, headed to the Parque Roca Olympic Natatorium in Argentina.
She swam four events, earning her best times yet, with two personal bests in the 100m Fly and 50m Backstroke, and two season bests in the 200m Fly and 50m Fly. Lucy also swam in the final in the 200m Butterfly where she came 6th and dropped her time by five seconds from the preliminaries.
Lucy told St Albans News: “I achieved two personal bests and two season bests, and I am overall very happy with my results.
“I had a great experience racing against the world’s best deaf swimmers and this environment was what allowed me to perform well. I am looking forward to returning to training to improve some more and hopefully qualify for the 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo.”
