Travel review site Trip Advisor has announced its top 5 places to visit in Stanmore.

The site which allows visitors to rank venues, hotels and restaurants based on their experiences.

The clear number one is Bentley Priory Museum which scored 4.5 out of 5 stars across 157 reviews. It was the headquarters for Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain and played a key part in the Allied Forces winning World War Two. The museum tells the story of the role it played in achieving this. It currently has 82 ‘excellent’ reviews.

But not all its reviews are glowing. One per cent of visitor feedback described it as ‘terrible.’

Runner up was Stanmore Country Park which has a 4 out of 5-star rating across 30 reviews.

It was praised by one reviewer for being a ‘little gem.’

Third on the list is Bernays Gardens, followed by St John’s Church and the final member of the fantastic five is Stanmore Golf Club.

Charles Coverdale, of Uxbridge Road, said: “I’d agree that Bentley Priory Museum is the best place to visit in Stanmore. We had Canadian relatives visit us last year and we took them to the museum. It’s steeped in history and its importance in shaping how the world is now cannot be underestimated.

“Stanmore has a lot going for it and if you want more of a lively feel central London is a short hop on the Jubilee Line.”
