Anchor Housing has now confirmed that lighting at a Garston property has been “fully restored”, after a disabled woman and her husband were left without full lighting in their home for several months.
The couple, who live in veteran housing, previously said they had been forced to rely on a lamp and cooker light during the winter months after lighting failed in several rooms.
Since November 2025, the couple lived without lighting in two of their bedrooms, the toilet and kitchen. Before the update Bob spoke to GARSTONnews, he said: “I believe a rat or a squirrel has chewed through an electric cable, causing the failed lighting.”
The applicant, Anchor Housing, responded to the claims and said: “All power the lighting has been fully restored within the property in question. We are very sorry that our residents have had issues with the lighting in their home. As soon as we were made aware, our contractors attended the following day to investigate and resolve it as quickly as possible.”
At the time of publication, the current application was pending consideration. For more information on Kytes Drive, residents can visit the Watford planning portal and search 23/01097/FULM.
