A student from St Clement Danes School in Chorleywood will represent his country in the Europe Triathlon Championships next year.

Rhys secured his place after finishing fourth in the U20 Sprint Distance category at the Bournemouth International Triathlon on Sunday, September 14.

The event saw Rhys complete a 750m sea swim, followed by a demanding zig-zag climb from the beach up to transition on top of the cliff, before a 20km bike ride and a 5km run. He finished the triathlon in an impressive 1:10:48.

With the top four competitors in each age group earning automatic qualification, Rhys will join the Age-Group Team at the 2026 Europe Triathlon Championships in Tarragona, Spain.

The very next day after the triathlon, Rhys competed as part of an Olympic Distance Relay Triathlon, running the final leg and recording the fastest run time overall.

St Clement Danes School said: “Rhys’s commitment, perseverance and sporting excellence are an inspiration to us all, and we are incredibly proud. We look forward to following his journey as he prepares for this exciting challenge in 2026.”
