Planted in the Watford community lie many memoirs of history. One recent event that recently brought residents together to reflect was Holocaust Memorial Day. Every year in January, many across the borough reflect on and remember the millions of lives lost during the Holocaust.
A wreath-laying ceremony to mark the day was held at Anne Frank’s tree near the Watford Library on Tuesday, January 27, despite the wet weather conditions.
The event, organised by Watford Borough Council, was attended by the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire Robert Voss CBE, Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor and council chairman councillor Favour Ezeifedi with other councillors and residents.
A period of silence was observed, and many in attendance addressed the significance of Holocaust Memorial Day.
