Hertfordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) is calling for tougher sentencing after a sex offender exposed himself at numerous train stations, including Croxley.
Leon Clarke appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, May 27, after admitting to several offences of exposing his genitals intending to cause alarm or distress on seven occasions in the last year.
He was sentenced to a one-year community order and a £10 fine. He was also given a five-year sexual harm prevention order and has been added to the sex offenders register.
However, PCC Jonathan Ash-Edwards has criticised Clarke’s sentencing and is reported to have said: “People will be horrified to hear that someone can commit seven sex offences in public and be fined just £10, effectively £1.42 per offence.
“It’s not good enough and we need a more serious approach to sentencing for sexual offences and violence against women and girls.”
