An Amersham school’s rock band took to the stage at the Buckinghamshire Music Trust’s Battle of the Bands final last month.
Amersham School’s Year 11 band, Undecided, consists of lead singer Rosa, lead guitarist Brayden, bassist Albert and drummer Oliver.
In January, the four musicians attended an audition for the trust’s Battle of the Bands, their first live performance outside of school events.
The judges described their cover of In Bloom by Nirvana as “the best Nirvana cover in the 10 years the competition had been running” and gave the band a spot in the final.
Speaking to AMERSHAMnews, Rosa said: “Our styles really click so we find playing with each other easy. Doing the audition, we were so excited! We were all so proud of ourselves and so happy.”
On Saturday, March 29, the young rockers headed to the Old Town Hall in Wycombe to face 10 rival bands in the Battle of the Bands final.
They performed Pennyroyal Tea by Nirvana and Misery Business by Paramore. Despite not winning the overall award, Rosa won Best Vocals on the night.
Rosa said: “I was really nervous, but we were amped up and motivated, especially with all our teachers there to support. Looking out and seeing these people supporting you and cheering you on – we felt so happy!”
Brayden said: “The other bands had all been there before and we’re still a new band, so we were just really proud of ourselves.”
The group said they would continue playing together but are taking a step back to focus on their GCSEs for now.
