PROTECT THE TOWN: Climate action group announce Berkhamsted Green Week for September

Published on: 24th June 2021   |   By: Jake Levison   |   Category: Uncategorized

Climate Action Berkhamsted (CAB) has announced that the town will be holding its own version of the Great Big Green Week – a UK wide celebration of action on climate change.

CAB, which is an umbrella organisation of groups including Berkhamsted Town Council, Transition Town Berkhamsted and other local community organisations, is holding Berkhamsted Green Week from September 18-26.

Their local events will bring together individuals and groups to celebrate what Berkhamsted people are doing in the community to respond to the climate and ecological emergency – and explore what more they can do to achieve net zero missions as soon as possible.

CAB’s programme will kick off on Saturday, September 18 in the Civic Centre (pictured) with a day of events and activities.

Over the course of the week, they hope that many local groups and individuals will organise and deliver further events and actions, large and small.

CAB will publicise those events through social media and other channels. You are invited to plan an event or activity to take place during the week to highlight your special contribution to climate action.

This could be something which kick-starts your project, attracts more volunteers or support for your activity, demonstrates your ongoing work and achievements or shares your expertise and knowledge.

The goal with whatever you choose should be to inspire others to get more involved in greener initiatives and championing sustainability – or to simply help them make important changes in their day-to-day lives.

If you have an event or activity idea that you would like to contribute, or have other suggestions for how you would like to take part, please go to berkhamstedtowncouncil.gov.uk/great-big-green-week.html to fill out a form or email climateactionberko@gmail.com.
