The rollout of new post boxes in Abbots Langley is causing concerns for some residents.
Abbots Langley parish councillor Jane Lay has expressed her worries about the new post box in Abbots High Street and its proximity to the current Post Office.
Cllr Lay said: “Why do we need a new box to take parcels as well? We have a Post Office which is only two feet away.
“I believe they are not replacing the box but just the door and adding a solar panel on the top. We cannot have our beautiful knitted scenes attached to the post box tops anymore.”
However, Ayush Patel, who runs the village Post Office, is reserving his judgment for the time being.
He said: “I am not sure how I feel until the rollout of the post boxes comes into effect.
“However, I do not believe this will affect our business, as the Royal Mail and our Post Office are two separate businesses. Until the new post box is installed, it’s quite hard to form an opinion.”
The new post box is currently not in use and still wrapped in tape.
