Abbots boxing star Shannon Courtenay visited a local youth boxing club recently to give the kids there some encouragement.
The newly-crowned WBA World Female Bantamweight Champion turned up at ABC Boxcleva in Watford on May 12 to answer the kids’ questions, sign their gloves and take photos with each of them.
Coaches Kenny Walker and Dean Higgins said: “It was a pleasure to have Shannon come over, giving back to our community through Watford ABC.
“We would like to thank Shannon and wish her all the best of luck for the future.”
Shannon recently told AbbotsNews: “I’ve got support nationally which is amazing, but when you’re getting support from your locals it’s just a bit more special, isn’t it?
“You should never forget where you come from.
“Abbots Langley have really got behind me. There’s beautiful messages people send on Facebook and it’s so nice to know the whole village is supporting you. Also all of Watford.
“It’s amazing to see I’ve really got the backing of my town now.”
