West House Café is to be expanded in order to provide for increasing demand, but there are fears that this will negatively affect the green areas of the park where it is situated.
The café is situated in Pinner Memorial Park and has received unanimous consent for planning permission from Harrow Council, which will allow it to extend its kitchen into an adjoining car park.
The West House and Heath Robinson Museum Trust have described the extension as necessary for them to continue to serve their growing number of customers.
The trust has been quick to try and calm fears that the development will affect the park, or be an eyesore, but there are still those who remain unconvinced.
Those opposed to the development released a statement that raised concerns, which included slip risks and an increased number of pigeons at the site.
The statement argued: “We want to protect Pinner Memorial Park from overdevelopment; this is no longer just a café.”
