Chalfont St Giles Parish Council (CSGPC) has confirmed that some of its members may stand for the Buckinghamshire Council elections under political banners.
The move could prove controversial as CSGPC councillors are known to be non-political.
In a post on Facebook, CSGPC wrote: “This situation has occurred twice before when the parish council had councillors who were political for Buckinghamshire Council but remained independent for the parish council. The parish council is here to improve the village and deal with village issues and will remain unswayed by political influence.”
They added that all 12 members of CSGPC had confirmed they would be standing for election again on Thursday, May 1.
As CHALFONTS&GERRARDSCROSSnews goes to print, nominations for the election have not yet been confirmed.
On Facebook, Chalfont St Peter parish councillor Anne-Marie Vladar wrote: “It would be good to see the same for Chalfont St Peter Parish Council. In my opinion, party politics has no place at parish level and works to the detriment of our community.”
