Bushey’s grassroots football scene is hitting the back of the net thanks to a thriving partnership between PSD and Bushey and Oxhey FC (B&O).
Now entering its third season, the collaboration began when director of PSD Gavin Brown reached out to B&O after looking to enrol his son Harrison, sparking conversations about a shared goal – creating a clear pathway for players to progress through the game.
B&O, a locally run club, offers U5 and U6 training sessions at Metropolitan in Bushey, where youngsters enjoy their first kickabout under the guidance of qualified coaches.
From fun introductions and mini tournaments to building teamwork, communication and confidence, these sessions give budding footballers the perfect warm-up for joining B&O’s U7 teams.
In just two years, seven new teams with managers and coaches have stepped up from PSD into the B&O ranks.
Gavin said: “This model allows the club to be self-sufficient and is all part of the outstanding culture that has led to the club being so successful as a pillar of the local community in a short period of time.”
