MYSTERY ILLNESS: Police inquire after group in Hemel Hempstead is hospitalised

Published on: 9th June 2022   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

Police in Hemel Hempstead are currently making enquiries after a small group of people were hospitalised after falling ill in the town.

Circumstances surrounding the illness are currently unknown, but police have stated they are keeping an open mind on whether or not the incident, which took place on the evening of Wednesday, June 8, may be drug-related.

Those affected are currently still receiving hospital treatment.

In a statement, Hertfordshire Police said: “We’re still conducting enquiries to establish the circumstances around how they came to fall ill. There were five people in total. One remains in hospital at this time but their condition is not thought to be life threatening or life changing.”

In an earlier statement on social media, they said: “Although we are still in the very early stages of our enquiries, it is only right that we reach out to those who use illegal drugs and urge them to be extra cautious about what they are using and how much.

“We will seek to issue any updates in due course. If you have any information which may assist police enquiries, please contact us.”

Information can be reported via the police’s online form or by calling the non-emergency number 101. It can also be reported anonymously through Crimestoppers, either visiting their website or calling 0800 555 111.

Support and advice for anyone suffering with drug-related problems can find it via the Spectrum and Talk to Frank websites. There are also a number of resources on the Hertfordshire County Council website.
